She comes from a theater family and is considered to be one of most exciting theater makers in Israel today – with a reputation for a dose of black humor when dealing with historical conflicts. Yael Ronen lives in Tel Aviv and works regularly in German-speaking countries, often in Berlin. Her Piece Third Generation (2008) was celebrated internationally as a theater sensation and invited to numerous festivals. At the Schauspielhaus Graz she developed Hakoah Vienna and No Man’s Land. At the beginning of the Gorki’s new season, Yael Ronen directed the world premiere of All Russians Love Birch Trees.
